How to select a service plan

Gps Connect offers a number of base service plans and a wide varity of additional service features allowing maximum flexibility for satisfying customers' specific requirements. Below are some recommendations on how to select a practical combination of a service plan and extra features.

Why is a service plan required?

Service plan enables a customer to use Gps Connect's location tracking service with tracking devices they purchased. What that means is a device that purchased with a service plan will be configured to report their locations and alerts to Gps Connect's servers over wireless network and all reported information will be stored in Gps Connect's databases and available for monitoring in real time or later as a history. In addition event notifications can be configured to notify customers in real time about certain type of events like emergency alert (SOS), low battery, overspeed, fall or impact and so on.

Connectivity option

Every tracking device requires GSM cellular connectivity to report its location. This is achieved by installing a GSM SIM card with a data plan into a tracking device. Gps Connect can supply a SIM card with a device and also allows customers to use their own SIM cards whichever is their preference. If you would like to use your own SIM card please select a Web Tracking Only service plan.

International roaming

While Gps Connect welcomes customers from all around the world we do not recommend customers outside of Canada and USA purchase our SIM card. Even though SIM cards that Gps Connect provides will work anywhere in the world where there is a GSM coverage additional roaming charges will be most likely incurred outside of Canada and USA. We recommend for customers using their tracking devices outside of Canada and USA supply their own SIM cards that they can acquire from local GSM providers. For Canadian and US customers we offer separate plans that include corresponding SIM cards for those countries.

Occasional users

If you only use a GPS locator occasionally or not sure of how often you'll be using it choose Basic service plan and NO extra features. Basic service plan is the least expensive plan yet includes everything required to use your locator on demand and pay only as much as you use it. Presumably your locator would be configured not to report its location automatically in this case.

Regular watchers

If you check the position of your locator regularly or configure it to report locations automatically on regular basis we recommend to add some extra data to a Basic service plan. Please refer to a table below to get an idea how much extra data required for different usage scenarios.

Frequent talkers

If only knowing the location is not enough and you also need to talk to a locator carrier often we suggest to add extra voice minutes to a Basic service plan. Voice minutes purchased together with a service plan cost less than those charged per usage.
