Gps Connect Tracking Features

Real-time monitoring

Real-time monitoring screenshot Gps Connect monitors objects’ locations and shows these objects on a map as icons. Different icons indicate different objects which makes map reading easier. Only selected objects appear on the map which reduces the clutter. When a user hovers over an object's icon a pop-up window appears displaying object name, current or last known location, battery charge level and GPS signal indicator, speed and heading, events and sensors’ statuses.

Continuous monitoring

Real-time monitoring screenshot In "continuous monitoring" mode Gps Connect updates objects’ information on the screen automatically by time interval. An update interval can be selected from a list of predefined values. Additional options include: showing object’s recent trajectory and centering object on the map that automatically pans the map so selected object is always displayed in the center of the map.

Routes history

Real-time monitoring screenshot Gps Connect stores the objects’ movement history and allows retrieving it for a single object or a group of selected objects for a given period of time. Object's movement history is displayed on a map in a form of a movement trajectory and a set of waypoints. Statistics is calculated for each loaded route and includes minimal, maximal and average speed, route length and number of loaded waypoints. For every waypont detailed information is available for viewing including object's speed, direction, timestamp, registered events and additional data like sensors' values.

Visual historical data selection

Visual data selector screenshot Gps Connect implements a unique Visual Data Selection feature that allows easy and intuitive historical routes data selections using interactive charts. Charts display a number of recorded waypoints over time and selecting a historical data for viewing is as easy as selecting a rectangle on a chart area with a mouse.

Geo-fences

Editing geo-fence screenshot Geo-fence is a perimeter border outlining some area on a map for which Gps Connect is able to monitor when an object crosses it by entering or leaving the area and register corresponding events with notifications. A user can create as many geo-fences as needed and enable in/out monitoring for any object/geo-fence combination. When a geo-fence is created it’s given a name and a color for easier visual recognition.

Events monitoring

Detected overspeed event in history screenshot While monitoring object locations Gps Connect also registers various events that either reported by trackers or detected by Gps Connect software such as: panic alert, geo-fence in/out, speeding alert, impact sensor trigger alert, power low or down alert, etc. Events’ history is available for viewing on "History” page or via reports.

Events notifications

Notification setup screenshot Some events such as panic alert or geo-fenc in/out, for instance, may require immediate attention. In such case Gps Connect can automatically send a notification to a selected user’s email address when a corresponding event occurs.

Tracker settings

Locators setup screenshot Users can customize a visual appearance of their trackers by adjusting their properties such as a name, icon and a trail color that help identifying them on a map. Trackers' settings are individual for each user and not shared between users even if they have shared access to the same trackers.

User settings

User settings screenshot Users can adjust their personal settings such as preferred map engine and a list of email addresses that can be used for notifications.

Maps support

Gps Connect location tracking system allows users to choose a map from multiple supported map providers including Google Maps and Bing/Virtual Earth. For each supported map a user can select any available visual mode such as: road, satellite or hybrid. For Virtual Earth map the tracking system also supports a Bird’s Eye mode. Support for new map providers is added to the system as soon as their maps become popular.

Reports

Gps Connect also includes a powerful and flexible reporting engine that is able to retrieve detailed and aggregated information about various characteristics of monitored objects selectively for a single object or for a group of objects during a chosen period of time. Information can be narrowed further down by applying additional filters on various objects’ parameters including but not limited to speed range, event types, etc.

Browser support

Gps Connect is an Internet-based Software as a Service application and only requires users to have a major web browser and the Internet access to work. Gps Connect supports all major internet browsers including Internet Explorer 7+, Firefox 2+, Safari 2+, Opera 9.6+, Chrome 1+.
